Small schools like Slaton receive less funding (37.5%) just because they are small! This amount of money over the last five years has amounted to $820,000.00! Since the beginning 38 years ago the amount not received for just the Slaton ISD is approximately $31,000,000.00 ( That is over $30 million dollars)!Once again The Slaton Lions Club has been challenged to STEP FORWARD in another daunting task. We accept and dare to take this first step!
In the early 1980’s, the Texas legislature established a funding adjustment for schools with fewer than 1600 students in regular program average daily attendance. And then later in the same legislative session the diseconomy-of-scale factor to be decreased even further, resulting in an overall reduction of 37.5% in small district adjustment funding.
